Regular Light Bar Cleaning To Prevent Calcium Buildup

LED light bars are found on everything from police cars to ambulances and construction vehicles. The advantages of LED police light usage are numerous and increasingly proven. Whether you’re opting to take the LED plunge out of a concern for the environment or simply are impressed with their lifespan and effectiveness, knowing how to deal with the calcium building that comes along with the LED emergency vehicle lights is vital. Calcium buildup is the result of continuous use and is nearly impossible to prevent. After a period of time, calcium can build up on both the inside and outside of your police light bar. Learn how to clean your emergency vehicle lights and keep everything in tip top shape all year.

Cleaning Your LED Light Bar

What You Will Need:
  1. Mild soap
  2. Phillips head screwdriver
  3. Scrubbing pad
  4. Towel

What To Do:
  1. Start by removing the screws from the light bar harness with your Phillips head screw driver. All screws should be completely removed from the light bar harness before proceeding with the following of the steps.
  2. To get inside the light bar, lift the light bar cover from the harness platform. Remove the light bar cover and put aside.
  3. Rinse the light bar with water. Using a mild soap and a scrubbing pad, clean the inside and outside of the light bar. Apply the soap mixture to all surfaces of the light bar. Use a circular motion when scrubbing the surfaces, which will best break up any calcium deposits.
  4. Once all surfaces have been cleaned with the soap, rinse the entire bar with warm water until all soap has been removed.
  5. Use a hand towel to wipe all surfaces dry. Be sure everything is completely dry before continuing on to the next step.
  6. Return the light bar to the harness on the top of your vehicle. Screw the screws back into the harness by turning clockwise to tighten. Double check to make sure all screws are secure and the light bar is firmly in place.
